Who this policy covers

This policy describes the Caffeine Tally iPhone app and caffeinetally.com, operated by James Hall. For privacy questions, email support@caffeinetally.com.

Records on your iPhone

The app stores drink logs, custom recipes, sleep check-ins and notes, targets, schedules, and notification preferences locally. We do not receive or sell those records. The app does not use HealthKit or import sleep data.

Search and barcode lookup use the bundled drink catalog. Camera processing happens on-device; the app does not save or upload camera images or send scanned barcodes or search terms to a server.

Your Home Screen widget

If you save drinks, the app shares their names, servings, caffeine estimates and internal identifiers with its widget on the same iPhone. Drink history, sleep information, notes and targets are not included. Deleting a saved drink or all personal data updates this local widget list.

Purchases and Apple services

Apple handles subscription billing. The app checks Apple-signed purchase and entitlement information on-device to enable Premium. We do not receive your payment card details. Apple may provide developers with sales, subscription and diagnostic reports under its own services and privacy practices.

Notifications are scheduled locally and are optional. You can change notification permission in iPhone Settings. Read Apple’s privacy policy.

Backups, deletion and retention

Private records and the saved-drink widget file are excluded from automatic device cloud backup. There is no automatic account backup or cross-device sync. Deleting the app or losing your iPhone can lose your records.

You can export a JSON backup or intake CSV from Settings. JSON can include sleep notes. Exports are not encrypted by Caffeine Tally; their storage and sharing depend on the destination you choose.

Use Settings → Delete all personal data to remove local records and cancel the app’s reminders. We have no uploaded copy to delete. Copies you exported remain wherever you saved them. Deleting data or the app does not cancel an Apple subscription.

The website and links you open

This website uses no advertising, analytics scripts, tracking cookies or contact form. Its hosting provider processes normal web request information, such as IP address, requested page and browser information, to deliver and protect the site. That traffic does not include your app records. Opening manufacturer or other source links connects you to those websites under their own privacy practices.

The current app ships its catalog offline and has no catalog update server configured. If a future release enables downloads, its policy will describe the host and connection information it receives before that feature ships.

When you contact support

Emailing support shares your email address and the message or attachments you choose to send with us and our email provider. We use that information to answer your request and resolve problems, and retain it only as needed for support and any applicable obligations. Please do not send passwords, payment details or your private backup unless needed and you choose to share it.
